Four Year Old Classroom

Early Education Station is now offering the WV Universal PreK Program through Mason County Schools.  Multiple transitional activities completed with county kindergarten teachers.
Monthly themes, weekly topics and daily activities keep the children motivated, and prepare the children for their next big step - Kindergarten.  Children spend their day learning through active learning centers, work stations, journaling and large group activities.

Laura Littleton, the school’s 4 yr old teacher, graduated from Rio Grande College with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Elementary Education.  Miss Laura has nine years of experience working with preschool age children.

Multiple activities are offered which develop the muscles needed for writing.

Hands On Learning
Children learn how to handle books, turn pages, and relate words to print by listening to books on tape.

Children are presented with hands on activities during work station time to gain needed skills.  This student is fishing for numbered fish.

Writing board is used daily to help children learn mathematical skills such as patterns, sequences, numerical awareness, and literacy skills such as, letter recognition and phonological awareness

My Day” reports are sent home each day showing
the skills presented to the children.   Assessment reports
completed every nine weeks to evaluate
each child’s readiness for Kindergarten and parent teacher conferences are offered twice a year.

“Writing” is encouraged by giving children writing materials in all active learning centers.  Writing cards, words and written names are also placed throughout the classroom for children to use while practicing.

Shelves are clearly labeled in all classrooms of the school so that children can gain the self help skill of cleaning up after self.
